Living in the Present course

Living in the Present is a new style of eight-week mindfulness course for adults to introduce mindfulness and well-being. The course focuses on supporting friendly, mindful awareness towards our experience in the midst of our everyday lives.

The programme encourages gentle exploration and growing awareness of how things actually are for us in this moment. It introduces a variety of mindfulness practices that can be chosen to meet and respond to what we discover in our experience, to support our well-being.

The course helps us build understanding of how mindful awareness and mindful attitudes can support us in the many different sorts of moments in our lives, both joyful and challenging.

Present moment awareness, met with mindful attitudes, can support us to meet all our experiences and choose ways to respond well to experience. We may choose to be with, for instance, a beautiful sunset, the place we’re walking in or someone’s smile more reliably or for longer. We can also learn to see our challenging internal experiences such as thoughts or pain differently, allowing us to have more resources to manage these.

The course offers an introduction to a range of mindfulness practices (some with eyes open and others with eyes closed) to weave into your life. The practices offer us opportunities to be with our present moment experience, tuning in to our senses and exploring the space around us and our internal experience.
