I am so excited to be able to offer this 11 week course based at the wonderful Treborth Botanical Gardens. Research has demonstrated the effectiveness of mindfulness in managing stress, anxiety and depression. It helps us find a way to respond more wisely to things as they are, making us increasingly resourced and resilient. We can appreciate things more and find that our lives are more satisfying. Recent research into nature and mindfulness demonstrates that the one increases the benefits of the other. Slowing down we appreciate the beautiful complexity of nature, whilst experiencing a corresponding settling.

This is an extended Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy Course (8 week course). MBCT is similar in many ways to the MBSR course (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) and was especially developed to help us understand how our thinking has a huge impact on our feelings, our mood and our engagement with life. It introduces us to more effective ways to respond to life's challenges, supporting us to reintegrate the body and mind which gives us fresh ways to approach what life sends our way.

The additional weeks that precede the MBCT component of this course have been particularly designed to make the course more accessible and effective. These extra sessions come through the collected wisdom and feedback from many participants over years of teaching. The focus is towards enabling participants to engage with the wisdom of mindfulness in a way that serves them best as an individual. It is intended to facilitate a deeper understanding and more easeful integration of mindful practice into daily life.

The Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice have confirmed that Growing into Mindfulness is suitable as an entry course for those wishing to train in Mindfulness at Bangor University.
